09/11/2023 - 15:33

The ISO organization has decided to initiate the development of 2 standards related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

  1. a certifiable management system standard ISO 53001 that defines the requirements for the Sustainable Development Goals when an organization:
    1. needs to demonstrate and strengthen its performance in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals
    2. wishes to manage its responsibilities related to the pillars of sustainability in a systematic way
  2. an associated standard as a "guidance for use" that will initially be developed as ISO/PAS 53002 to later be transformed into an international standard

In line with the policy around the organization's Sustainable Development Goals, the intended outcome of a Sustainable Development Goals management system is to:

  1. Improve the performance of the organization.
  2. Meet compliance obligations
  3. Meet selected Sustainable Development Goals.
  4. Increase success
  5. Build confidence and self-assurance among relevant current and future stakeholders
